Such a beautiful place! Everyone that came to our wedding reception here really enjoyed it. It was a perfect place for all ages and the children had lots of fun in a safe environment. Thank you very much to the staff at the Orangery Suite.    LE August 2018

Georgian walled garden

The Walled Garden

The Orangery Suite dates back to the late 18th century and is set within a Grade II listed wall.

The wall encloses a 3 acre garden, which includes a croquet lawn, crazy golf course and beautifully landscaped gardens for guests to explore.

The grounds are not open to the public, so you will enjoy exclusive use of the walled garden and facilities.

Formerly Merley Bird Gardens, the design and construction of the walled garden and Orangery was overseen by the famous architect John Nash, who also designed such historic buildings as Buckingham Palace and the Royal Pavilion in Brighton.

We got married here just over 2 weeks ago. This was the first and only venue we viewed for our wedding... as soon as we set foot in the gardens we knew it was the perfect venue for the relaxed summer wedding that we wanted! We didn't want a hotel or country house as we didn't like how the day was too 'structured' and we wanted something a bit different. We wanted to be able to choose how our day went and change the order of things as we pleased. The Orangery Suite lets you decorate things exactly as you want them and you have the whole venue to put your own stamp on. The huge range of garden games were an added bonus as free entertainment for our wedding guests and they were really popular on the day. Unfortunately, despite it being July, it was drizzly on and off throughout the day but it definitely didn't ruin anything and Graham was really helpful with changing things around for us, plus it still stayed dry at the times we needed it to and we got all our outside pics. I wish we could have our wedding all over again just to go back to the Orangery Suite, it really is stunning with so many great backdrops for photos. Thanks so much Graham! This is the perfect hidden gem for weddings and we will try to find any excuse to have another party here at some point.    HC August 2017
